2 Men Arrested After Seen Burying Body in Alexander County, North Carolina

ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC – 2 men are in custody after they were spotted trying to bury a body Wednesday, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office said.

The men were taken into custody off of Highway 90 west of Taylorsville in the Ellendale community.

One of the suspects said that the victim is his uncle and he killed him “in self defense”.

Deputies say a neighbor saw a car on the property of an abandoned house. When deputies responded, they found the two. Officials also say they saw drag marks leading from the trunk to the woods.

Nearby Ellendale Elementary School was placed on lockdown due to police activity in the area, school officials say. Deputies have not said if the activity and lockdown were related to the two men taken into custody.

No names have been released.
