Three schools in Culpeper, Virginia are on modified lockdown Wednesday morning, and authorities have a suspect is in custody.
Authorities said shortly before noon that a suspect has been apprehended off campus. No one was injured.
Trier Alternative School, Culpeper High School and Culpeper Middle School are on a modified lockdown, the Culpeper Sheriff confirmed. Although someone is now in custody, the schools remain on lockdown “for further investigation,” according to a tweet from Culpeper County Public Schools.
There was a report of a person with a gun on the campus that houses all three schools, said Dr. Stacey Timmons, public information officer for the school system.
The Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Virginia State Police is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
