Fresh off of writing two episodes of NBC’s recently cancelled series Hannibal, Child’s Play creator Don Mancini is now hard at work on scripting the return of Chucky, and according to a tweet he just posted, filming may begin sooner than we think. And Tiffany may be back.
A quick little recap before we get into the news…
Introduced in 1998 sequel Bride of Chucky, Tiffany was the murderous girlfriend of Charles Lee Ray, the serial killer whose soul was infused into the Chucky doll. Like her lover, Tiffany also became a walking, talking doll, and in Seed of Chucky, she successfully became human once again – inhabiting the body of actress Jennifer Tilly.
In the 2013 film Curse of Chucky, which went direct-to-video and managed to get the franchise back on track, Tiffany (played by Jennifer Tilly) made a surprise appearance at the end of the film, stealing Chucky and sending the doll off to an unfortunate young girl. Will the next film pick up where Curse left off? Only time will tell.
Now, back to that tweet…
SO @Jtillathekilla2 SHOULD WE SHOOT CHUCKY 7 IN CAPETOWN?
— Don Mancini (@RealDonMancini) February 21, 2016
Over the weekend, Mancini tagged Jennifer Tilly in a tweet, asking her if they should shoot “Chucky 7” in Cape Town, South Africa. Tilly responded that “Cape Town is great,” adding “the crew is really professional and you can’t beat the weather!”
The strong implication of this little interaction is that Tilly will definitely be returning for the seventh installment in the Child’s Play franchise, and it’s likely that the tweet was posted as a way of teasing fans and letting us know that things are moving along smoothly with the project.
Good news, to say the least!
