Elyria, Ohio: Man Attempted to Abduct 10-Year-Old Girl Out Bedroom Window

ELYRIA, Ohio — A man tried to pull a 10-year-old girl through the bedroom window of her Elyria home, according to investigators.

The early Thursday morning abduction attempt mirrors a trio of reports Lorain police received later in the the morning which led to a lockdown at schools in the Lorain City School District.

“We are working closely with detectives in Lorain to see if there is any correlation,” Elyria police Capt. Chris Costantino said.

Elyria detectives and the FBI are investigating the Elyria incident that happened about 3:45 a.m. Thursday at a home in 600 block of Furnace Street.

The girl told her father that the man grabbed at her legs and tried to pull her out of her bedroom window.

The man told the girl to cooperate and he wouldn’t hurt her or her family, police said. She broke free and ran to her father’s bedroom for help.

The victim’s father told police someone had removed a ladder from his yard and placed it against the house beneath his daughter’s window.

The girl described the suspect as a white man in his thirties with brown eyes. He was wearing a black hoody tied tightly around his face. Constantino said the description in both cases are similar.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Elyria Police Department at 440-323-3302 or the Cleveland FBI Office at 216-522-1400.
