RAMAPO – Two people were killed Friday in a crash involving multiple trucks on the New York State Thruway in Ramapo.
Police have closed all southbound lanes. Extensive delays were reported. Northbound lanes are open, but traffic is very slow.
The crash involved one tractor-trailer, two box trucks, and one additional vehicle, state police said. It occurred just before 10 a.m. Friday near the ramp for Exit 14B (Airmont Road), according to police.
One person, a passenger in one of the trucks, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was cut out of the truck and taken in extremely critical condition to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, where emergency room staff were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities believe that one of the trucks was headed north on the Thruway when it hit a guardrail and crashed…
