Kingdom City, Missouri: Fatal Crash Involving 2 Tractor Trailers Slows I-70 Traffic

A fatal multi-vehicle crash involving two tractor-trailers was slowing traffic Tuesday morning on Interstate 70 in Callaway County.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reported the crash happened at about 9:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 at mile marker 148 in Kingdom City. Eastbound traffic was initially detoured, and one lane of westbound I-70 was closed. MoDOT said one eastbound lane was opened at about 11 a.m. The agency also said the closed westbound lane had been opened.

At least one person was killed in the crash, said Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Scott White. White said a little before 11 a.m. that it was not yet clear what caused the crash or how many people were injured.

MoDOT said the cleanup would slow traffic for several hours. It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured.

A crash also slowed westbound traffic Tuesday on Interstate 70 in Columbia near the 119 mile marker starting at about 7:30 a.m.
