Dear white people, It’s okay. You’re all fine. Your heritage is not in jeopardy so long as congress is still 80% white, Hollister’s door are still open, and The Oscars still happen yearly. So when the former head of a terrorist group that “fought to secure the rights” of white American’s declares you need to vote for Donald Trump or your heritage will be at stake… don’t. It’s okay. Just because people are saying that black lives matter, and candidates like Bernie Sanders are speaking about actually putting cops who commit crimes behind bars, and Beyonce wore a beret, doesn’t mean you’re all going to die.
What I’m talking about is this: David Duke, former Klu Klux Klan grand wizard, told all of his followers to vote for his main homie Trump. And if they did not it would “really [be] treason to your heritage.”
“Voting for these people, voting against Donald Trump at this point, is really treason to your heritage… I’m not saying I endorse everything about Trump. In fact, I haven’t formally endorsed him. But I do support his candidacy, and I support voting for him as a strategic action. I hope he does everything we hope he will do.”
The most haunting part of the speech was not just the “strategic action” portion; Implying that a Donald Trump presidency is “Phase One” in everything the KKK hopes for. The most eery bit of the already pretty terrifying speech was this Tyler Durden like rant he went into about getting people to volunteer for Trump:
“I’m telling you that it is your job now to get active. Get off your duff. Get off your rear end that’s getting fatter and fatter for many of you everyday on your chairs. When this show’s over, go out, call the Republican Party.”
The first rule of Trump Club is you do not talk about minority races as if they are equal.
This is your life and it is ending one equal rights movement at a time.
“…call Donald Trump’s headquarters, volunteer. They’re screaming for volunteers. Go in there, you’re gonna meet people who are going to have the same kind of mind-set that you have.”
The volunteers at Trump’s headquarters have the same mindset as KKK members? That is so shocking! Except that it is not at all shocking because people have been saying this from the beginning. Duke even said back in December that “[Trump has] made it okay to talk about these incredible concerns of European Americans today, because I think European Americans know they are the only group that can’t defend their own essential interests and their point of view,” Duke said. “He’s meant a lot for the human rights of European Americans.”
