Lady Gaga won for Woman of the Year in Music 2015. The award was from Billboard and was presented to her on December 11, which is reported as the day the event was taped in New York, but it aired today on the Lifetime channel, which is where I viewed the event. The event also featured female artists like Fifth Harmony, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Hailee Steinfeld, Lana del Rey, Tori Kelly, Ciara, Missy Elliot, rock band Alabama Shakes’ frontwoman Brittany Howard, and more.
Gaga, born as Stefani Germanotta, enjoyed quite a year this year. The pop singer and fashion icon who is known for her outrageous fashion choices is a visionary and activist as well. She started off in 2008 when she was celebrated for her popular songs “Poker Face” and “Just Dance.” Her music videos became trademark and iconic and she was unique in so many ways that moved me and made me quite a fan. She then had the songs, “Bad Romance,” “Alejandro,” and “Telephone” from her EP “The Fame Monster,” preceeded by first album “The Fame” and succeeded by second album, “Born this Way.” This album contained prominent hit song “Born this Way.”
Then she released album “ARTPOP” in which were singles like “Applause” and “Do What You Want” which featured R. Kelly in a version and Christina Aguilera in another version. In 2014, the succeeding year, Lady Gaga released a joint jazz album, on which she had collaborated with Tony Bennett. Gaga is one of the best-selling musicians of all time.
Gaga has six Grammy’s and has achieved statuses prevalent in pop culture. Gaga also appeared in “American Horror Story: Hotel” the fifth season of the horror anthology series on FX as the Countess, the main villain in the show. She also was engaged to fiancée Taylor Kinney who is an actor, earlier this year.
