Maryville, Tennessee Music Instructor Charged With Statutory Rape

An instructor at a Maryville music school is accused of having sex with a female student.

According to the Blount County Sheriffs’ Office, Jeremy R. Cook, 34, of Friendsville, is charged with two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure.

Cook was an instructor at the Maryville Rock Academy.

The 16-year-old victim told investigators that Cook befriended her on Facebook after she became his student, and messaged and called her on a regular basis. She said he drove her to his home on two different occasions in 2015 to have sex.

Both she and her parents reported the incidents to the sheriff’s office in January.

Cook is being held on a $150,000 bond at the Blount County Justice Center. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 23.
