A missing Ashland City man was found dead early Thursday in Clarksville from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot, according to Cheatham County Sheriff Mike Breedlove.
Keith Harris, 52, a well-known Cheatham County business owner, was last seen on Tuesday around 10:15 a.m.
Officer Natalie Hall, a spokeswoman for the Clarksville Police Department, said a body was found in a vehicle outside the Clarksville Mixed Martial Arts Academy at 2651 Fort Campbell Boulevard.
Clarksville Police found the body in the vehicle at 4:48 a.m., according to Hall.
Hall said the department is still investigating the case.
Family and friends spent Tuesday and Wednesday searching for Harris.
His wife, Patti, told authorities that when she left home Tuesday, her husband was still in bed at the couple’s Sweethome Road home and he told her that he was going to sleep in.
She left at 10:15 a.m., and Keith Harris was still in bed.
She tried to call her husband at 11:30 a.m., and the call went straight to voice mail, according to a Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office report.
Authorities were not able to ping his cell phone during the search over the past two days.
