Nearly 200 Lbs. of Marijuana Seized in Church Point, Louisiana

CHURCH POINT, La. – Authorities seized over 190 lbs. of marijuana during a traffic stop, according to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Wayne Melancon issued the following news release:

Nearly 200 Lbs. of Marijuana Seized in Church Point, Louisiana

When approaching the vehicle Church Point officers could see in the back seat large plastic wrapped bales of what appeared to be a vegetable material.

Narcotics agents with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene and did confirm the material as marijuana.

Frederick Neal, 43, Houston, Tx. was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of oxycodone.

Recovered from the vehicle was approximately 192.5 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $231.000.00.

Bond was set Neal at $140,000.

Neal was arrested on January 7, 2016, according to records at the Acadia Parish Jail.
