Emojis have become embedded into the way we communicate over Facebook, texting, and other social media. They seem to stand in when we feel a loss of words.
For me, I use them when I feel they are appropriate for me to accentuate what I am talking about. Some of them are known to mean a certain thing, that is universally understood, and others are interpreted differently across horizons and settings. Either way, it is rather appropriate to say emjois are definitely a ubiquitous phenomenon.
When the meaning of an emjoi is disagreeable or interpreted differently, it creates a certain gap. The person using the emoji may be intending to say something totally different than what is understood by he or she who received this emoji. Let us venture into talking about one emoji, the pink lady, and what she really means. Of course, this pink lady is seen in many emjois. Two examples are the ones, one I actually tend to use a lot, because I personally like to be moderately feisty and am not afraid to show it. This one is the emoji that I characterized as having a lot of attitude, or I call it the “swerve emoji.” She is the sassy pink lady holding her hand out, as can be described. There is also the other one, where the pink lady seems to be having a chunk of her hair chopped off, or “the haircut emoji” as I like to call it.
Jessi Stern, a Facebook user, made a post. According to this post, the sassy pink lady emjoi, is part two of the haircut emoji. She is showing off her new hairdo, essentially. According to Julia Hayes’ article at E! Online, we have all been the person who cannot wait to show off their makeover. Hayes also says a person can get their groove back thanks to hair care. She finally apologizes if there has been a notion of Mean Girls in the emoji.
