UPDATE 9/11/15 1:40 p.m. : A contract security guard for Union Station shot and injured a man who allegedly stabbed a woman during an argument Friday, police said.
Police said a man and woman were seen arguing near the McDonald’s restaurant inside Union Station, near Gate L. Investigators said that during the domestic situation, the man stabbed the woman.
A security guard under contact to Union Station tried to subdue the man and ended up shooting him in the torso, police said. Police said the man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the woman was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from the stabbing.
Union Station was briefly cleared while police and emergency crews rushed to the scene. Everyone was allowed to return.

EARLIER 9/11/15 1:15 p.m.: WASHINGTON —There is police activity at D.C.’s Union Station and the U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms is advising people to remain clear of the area.
D.C. police say there is no active shooter at Union Station and an investigation is underway.
Also, VRE service is back up after its temporary suspension due to the police activity at Union Station.
