At a press conference, DPS Director Frank Milstead announced the arrest in the shootings that happened on August 29 and 31, and that the suspect is in custody. Milstead also said that they know the suspect is related to the first four shootings due to the weapon known to be forensically involved in those shootings.
According to the Associated Press, Merritt was taken into custody at a Wal-Mart in Glendale around 7 p.m. local time.

Some of the incidents involved bullets and others projectiles, the AP said. Milstead said that it is possible there are copycats out there, and that the investigation goes on. The incidents started on Aug. 29 when a bullet hit the windshield of an SUV, leaving a 13-year-old girl injured. In other cases, a tour bus was hit as well as other vehicles.
