Police Investigating Reports of Thieves Targeting Women in Arapahoe County, Colorado

ARAPAHOE COUNTY – Police in Arapahoe County are investigating a group of thieves targeting unattended vehicles belonging to women.

The criminals are believed to be part of the “Felony Lane Gang,” a nationwide group that police say has been operating for years.

Members are known to target gyms, parks, daycares, shopping centers and other places frequented by women.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating specific incidents where vehicles were broken into on the mornings of Dec. 17 and 18.

In one of those cases, a red Chevy Tahoe occupied by two black males was seen idling near the victim’s vehicle just prior to it being broken into.

Members have broken car windows to steal purses and checkbooks, but have left electronics and credit cards untouched. The thieves then use stolen identification to cash checks in drive through lanes at local banks.

Police say recent crimes have occurred in Arapahoe County, Douglas County and Aurora.

A national task force has been established in an attempt to identify members of the group.

Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 720-874-8477.
