Vladimir Putin, a name surrounded by so much hatred, that when John Kasich blatantly stated his plan was to “Punch Russia in the nose”, it was met with applause rather than whatever the noise equivalent of a million question mark emojis would be. It was obvious that the republican candidates were not very fond of the Russian president. All aside from Donald trump who claims the two would “get along very well”.
A Donald Trump presidency, as frightening as it may seem, would be utterly hair-raising if it was a Vladimir Putin Approved Presidency. Because the fact of the terrifying matter is, Putin greatly applauded the front-runner this Thursday at a public conference. Putin went as far as to say, “He is a bright and talented person without any doubt,” and that Trump is “an outstanding and talented personality.”
That’s not just odd for Putin to say. That’s odd for a Russian to say. The only thing “bright” and “talented” in a Russian’s mind would be “The sun, for slowly but surely drowning all of pitiful humanity in a rather timely fashion.” That’s not where Putin’s flirting with Trump ends. He even called Trump “the absolute leader of the presidential race.“
Trump responded immediately, “It is always a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond… I have always felt that Russia and the United States should be able to work well with each other towards defeating terrorism and restoring world peace, not to mention trade and all of the other benefits derived from mutual respect.”
Masha Gessen, a Russian-American backed Putin’s claims, saying they were “sincere” and that Putin and Trump have a lot of similarities in common. “I think what Putin sees in Trump is somebody who’s shooting from the hip.” How touching, that Vladimir Putin sees the presidential frontrunner as someone pointing a gun at all in his path and finds that to be a “talented personality”.
Trump is vocally quite fond of the joint appearance he had with Putin on “60 Minutes”. He even called the two “stablemates.” Despite the fact they were not even in the same room or segment on the episode. “I think that I would at the same time get along very well with him. He does not like Obama at all. He doesn’t respect Obama at all…But I think that I would probably get along with him very well.”
