Rebel Wilson to Play Ursula in The Little Mermaid Live Musical

Rebel Wilson has been cast as the evil Ursula in an upcoming live version of The Little Mermaid.

The Aussie actress says she is a massive ‘fan girl’ of the 1989 movie, and even more of a fan of the ‘delicious’ role of the villainous sea witch.

Now Rebel, 36, hopes her rendition of Ursula’s song Poor Unfortunate Souls is as good as the one by original actor, Pat Carroll.

‘I hope to do the amazing Pat Carroll [the original animated singing voice] proud by performing Ursula’s song,’ she said.

‘It’s just such a delicious role that I’ve always wanted to play.’

Rebel will perform alongside Sara Bareilles as Ariel, Darren Criss as Prince Eric and John Stamos as Chef Louis at the Hollywood Bowl gig on June 4, which also includes fireworks and a costume contest.

Meanwhile Chloe Moretz has been confirmed to play The Little Mermaid in a live action movie remake in which the character will not be red-haired.
