Searcy, Arkansas: Father of Missing 2-Year-Old Boy Charged With Son’s Murder


SEARCY, Ark.  – According to the Searcy Police Department, an arrest has been made in the case of missing Searcy two-year-old, Malik Drummond.


On Tuesday, the father of the child, 43-year-old Jeffery Leroy Clifton, of Searcy was arrested and charged with capital murder and abuse of a corpse.

Nancy Payne, Malik’s grandmother said on Tuesday said that Searcy detectives knocked on her door at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday and told her that Clifton had confessed to police “a little after 11.” Tanya Drummond, Malik’s mother, was quoted as saying Clifton turned himself in because “his conscience was eating him alive.”

Payne added that she has Malik’s twin sister and that his mother is in Fort Smith.

Payne also said that she personally hopes that the FBI $20,000 reward for his discovery will be used for funeral expenses.

Malik was reported missing in November of 2014.

No other details have been released by police at this time.
