Country music artist Stoney LaRue was arrested in Oklahoma City after police said he pushed his girlfriend down the stairs during an argument.

According to police, at about 7:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to the report of a domestic incident at an apartment on Robinson Avenue in Oklahoma City. A woman told police that 38-year-old Stoney LaRue pushed her down the stairs.

Officers learned that the victim and LaRue have been dating for about three years and lived together for two years.

The victim said LaRue and a second suspect, 43-year-old Richa Chandra, had been out drinking. The two came back to the apartment around 4 a.m. and were making a lot of noise, so the victim went to her car to go back to sleep.

The victim returned at about 6:15 a.m. to get ready for work. She said she was using a hair dryer when LaRue woke up and confronted her about the noise.

During the argument, the victim said LaRue became angry and threw her makeup bag and several other items down the stairs. The victim said she bent down to pick up those items. That’s when LaRue pushed her from behind, causing her to roll head over heels down the staircase.

The victim called 911 for help. Officers arrived and took LaRue into custody on a complaint of domestic abuse. He has been released on bond.

According to police, during the investigation, the second suspect, Chandra, was not allowed back into the house. However, after being told multiple times to leave, Chandra remained on scene trying to talk to the victim. She was then taken into custody on complaints of obstructing and public drunkenness.

Police said the victim had scrapes and scratches on her left leg and knee, and that she had scratches on her back.

LaRue was in Oklahoma City Saturday for a concert.
