Golden Valley, MN — A man arrested Wednesday on Federal child pornography charges is considered a person of interest in the 1989 abduction of Jacob Wetterling, according to an announcement made by authorities on Thursday.
Law Enforcement Authorities say as a result of a long-term child pornography investigation, Daniel James Heinrich was taken into custody following the execution of a search warrant at his home.
Investigator say during a search warrant served on Heinrich’s residence in July, investigators found 19 three-ring binders filled with pornographic images of young boys, a computer hard drive filled with images, and a collection of VHS tapes containing child pornography.
According to the criminal complaint, DNA evidence obtained during the search, links Heinrich to the disappearance of Wetterling.
Heinrich has denied any involvement in the abduction and is not charged in connection with the case.
