Total Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017

Speaking of the magnificent things in this universe that before our very eyes, a solar eclipse, which is not only a solar eclipse, but is a total solar eclipse is heading to the lower 48 states of the United States and can be seen on August 21, 2017, approximately two years from today and exactly two years from yesterday! This will be occurring to the lower 48 states in the U.S. after the 1970’s, many decades ago.

This phenomenon is being known as “The Great American Total Solar Eclipse.” After about four decades, this phenomenon will occur again, astonishing Americans who can look at the eclipse from their own homes. Contrary to the common misconception, these phenomena occur more than expected; that is, they are not so rare as they are believed to be.

The moon will cast its shadow, its “umbra”, upon the Earth’s surface, this is essentially how the eclipse happens. After 1979, this is the first and the first occurrence of this in the 21st century! Americans will wait two years for this fascinating experience and treat for the eyes. 1970 was actually the last time Americans were able to witness such a beautiful event so accessibly and pervasively. Such an occurrence, if tragically missed on the 21st day of August in 2017, can be witnessed in April 2024.

Now one may wonder how widespread this eclipse really is; well, since 1918 this is the first event that marks an eclipse that blankets the U.S. from coast to coast.
