KEMAH, Texas – A suspect barricaded himself in a Kemah Walgreens on Tuesday morning before shooting and killing himself, according to the League City Police Department.
According to a statement released by police, it all started when the man carjacked someone in the 2500 block of South Shore Boulevard around 8:35 a.m.
Police chased the suspect to the Walgreens at Highway 146 and East 518 where he crashed into some pillars and then went inside. Many of the store’s customers were able to flee, but the suspect went into the pharmacy and prevented the pharmacist from leaving.
Police were able to use the store’s cameras to track the man’s movements, and after about an hour he eventually shot and killed himself.
There were no other injuries or deaths.
The League City Police Department and Kemah Police Department are investigating the incident.
