LOXAHATCHEE — Update, noon: The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed there have been arrests made at the three farms in Loxahatchee.
PBSO is still serving the search warrants at the moment.
According to Animal Recovery Mission (ARM), the raid is the “largest tactical strike on extreme cruelty operations in United States history.”
Original story: The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control are investigating three alleged illegal slaughterhouses in Loxahatchee, PBSO officials report.
Officials say PBSO is working with Animal Recovery Mission, a non-profit claiming that the locations are illegally slaughtering horses and selling “their meats for human consumption,” a press release from the organization states.
PBSO released no specific details on the investigation, but the ARM claims to have conducted a six-month undercover investigation revealing the underground horse meat trade.
