VIDEO Tracy Morgan Makes Emotional ‘SNL’ Return with Guest Stars Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin

Comedian Tracy Morgan returned to host “Saturday Night Live” for the first time since the car accident that nearly took his life last year, bringing up the crash and his long recovery in the opening monologue.

“It was awful, but it also showed me how much love and support I have in this world,” Morgan said.

He also joked about the injuries he sustained in the June 2014 accident, which claimed the life of his friend and fellow comic James McNair.

“People are wondering, can he speak?’ Does he have 100 percent mental capacity?” Morgan said. “The truth is, I never did!”

The monologue also gave a hilarious reference to a “30 Rock” episode in which Morgan’s character was thought to be dead. In classic “Saturday Night Live” fashion, Morgan and his “30 Rock” co-stars Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Jack McBrayer and Jane Krakowski acted out the scene in a live sketch.

To fans’ delight, he brought back his popular Brian Fellow character, an amateur zoologist with a talk show, “Safari Planet,” as well as Woodrow the homeless man and Astronaut Jones.

“It’s good to be home!!!!” Morgan tweeted right before the show aired.
