Wisconsin’s state Capitol Building in Madison was evacuated on Wednesday afternoon due to a “credible bomb threat” as representatives were debating a budget bill, a spokesman for the state Department of Administration said.
“Due to a credible bomb threat, we are evacuating the State Capitol,” administration department spokesman Cullen Werwie said. “We will make additional information available in the future.”
The Wisconsin Assembly went into recess because of the threat. The state Senate approved the two-year budget on Tuesday. The evacuation was announced shortly before 4 p.m.
